Halloween Pranks Can Be a Nightmare for Your Vehicle

Spooky surprises can turn a fun Halloween into a nightmare!

Not all surprises are fun. When someone messes with your vehicle, the result can be downright scary. Here are our tips to make sure your vehicle doesn’t have lasting damage after Halloween night!

Eggs

Being egged is the worst! While an egg hitting your windshield might not break the glass, if it has been left on your vehicle’s surface for too long it can eat through the paint, especially if it sits in the hot sun. Start by removing any egg shells from the surface of the car, no matter how small. Washing the vehicle with egg shells on it can cause scratching. Presoak the egg residue in a Self-Serve bay using the Bug Blast function. This product is specially designed to break down organic material and make it easier to remove. Use the Foam Brush to gently scrub the egg away. Then rinse it clean. Make sure to wash any egg off your vehicle as soon as you can to ensure it doesn’t have the chance to cause damage to your exterior.

Chalk Window Markers

Always wash the windshield before attempting to remove any writing by hand. This removes dirt and dust that can scratch the glass. Use the Wash Soap function in a Self-Serve bay to thoroughly clean the windshield. A more detailed scrub can be done with the Foam Brush if necessary. More permanent paint markers may need to be cleaned with specialty cleaners, but cleaning the windshield is always going to be your first step.

Shaving Cream

Shaving cream on a vehicle is the absolute worst prank to pull. While shaving cream shouldn’t damage your glass, it can do major damage to both your clear coat and your underlying paint. Never try to wipe or pull up any shaving cream on your own. Instead, dilute the shaving cream with a rinse function and try to float as much of it off your vehicle as possible. If you find that you have any hazing after your wash, you may need to take your vehicle in for a good buffing.

If you experience a Halloween nightmare, come to Rocky Mountain Car Wash as soon as you can to get your vehicle cleaned up. We are open 24/7 for your convenience!
