Get That Built Up Road Grime Off Your Car!

Road grime builds up on vehicles due to a combination of factors including dirt, dust, mud, oil, grease, pollutants, and other particles that are present on the roads. Rain, moisture, and air turbulence caused while driving can cause these particles to stick to the surface of the vehicle, creating a layer of grime. Over time, this grime can accumulate and become more difficult to remove, potentially leading to a dull and dirty appearance.

When you have built up road grime that has been left on a vehicle, a trip through the automatic wash may not always do the trick. We recommend using a self-serve bay to really get a deep clean and restore the shine of your exterior.

Using a self-serve car wash to clean off stubborn road grime can be effective if you follow the right steps and use the available tools properly. Here's how to do it:

  • Select the Pre-Soak Setting: This setting applies a specialized cleaning solution that helps to break down and loosen dirt and grime. Spray your vehicle thoroughly with the pre-soak solution, paying extra attention to areas with heavy buildup. Depending on how much grime is on your vehicle, you may want to apply two layers of pre-soak and provide enough dwell time for the solution to soak into the contaminants on your vehicle’s surface.

  • Use High-Pressure Rinse: After applying the pre-soak, switch to the high-pressure rinse setting. This high-pressure water spray will help to further dislodge dirt and grime from the surface of your vehicle.

  • Apply Soap: Spray your vehicle with the high-pressure soap function. Allow the soap to sit for a minute or two to help lift away more grime.

  • Scrubbing and Agitation: Use the foamy brush to gently agitate the soap and help break down stubborn grime. Scrub the entire surface of the vehicle.

  • High-Pressure Rinse Again: After scrubbing and agitating, use the high-pressure rinse setting again to thoroughly wash away the soap and grime from your vehicle.

  • Extra Protection: After all the soap is rinsed away, apply clear coat or rain shield to enhance shine and help aid in drying.

  • Final Rinse and Drying: Finish off by giving your vehicle a final rinse using the spot-free rinse setting. Then, use the car wash's air blower or bring your own microfiber towels to gently dry the vehicle's surface.
